MEP Victor Negrescu is supporting the initiative for free education worldwide for all children, from kindergarten through middle school

Worldwide, more than 244 million children do not go to school, and 4 out of 10 students do not finish middle school. Such children come, in most cases, from disadvantaged backgrounds, and cannot afford completing their studies.

In his capacity as Vice-Chair of the Culture and Education Committee of the European Parliament, MEP Victor Negrescu has constantly argued that access to quality education is a fundamental right, and nobody should be left behind. For such purpose, before the UN Transforming Education Summit, along with several Nobel Prize winners, former and current UN special rapporteurs, MEPs, and children’s rights experts, he signed on an open letter of support for the the proposal to modify the international legal framework so that education is free for all children from kindergarten through middle school, worldwide.
