Romania’s accession to the Schengen area has been, and remains, one of the Romanian MEP’s priorities, the approach being also supported through the #RomaniansForSchengen (#RomâniiMerităÎnSchengen) campaign, which is the natural continuation of a previous approach, “Romania asks to be in Schengen” (#RomâniaCereÎnSchengen). The campaign enabled the filing with the European institutions, in 2015, of a petition signed by over 50,000 Romanian citizens, which led to the European Parliament passing a resolution of support.
The European budget and the amending of the multiannual budget represent another priority for MEP Victor Negrescu, with the purpose of providing more protection for citizens against the multiple crises and challenges that we are currently facing.
Education-related themes remain just as important, from tabling amendments to the law on education to promoting the European Education Area and the recognition of studies, the re-launching of the education project for diaspora youth, with the European Parliament, the national information network on the European Union, and the continued support for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Other items on the MEP’s agenda are:
- Promoting the Romanian digital and innovative sector in Europe;
- New innovative pilot projects with European funds, and continuing the #FonduriEuropenePentruViitor (European funds for the future) information campaign;
- Modernising and reforming the European Union, and transposing the conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe and the European Year of Youth;
- Multiple actions intended to promote Romania in Europe, Alba County included;
Also, MEP Victor Negrescu will continue to campaign for the rights of Romanians all over the world, and also for every European citizen to have equal opportunities, especially in terms of access to quality education and healthcare.
