At the beginning of August, the Republic of Moldova received 50 million euros from the European Union, representing the first installment of the Macro-Financial Assistance.
The financial support is destined to help the Republic of Moldova manage the multiple crises it is facing, such as the economic impact generated by the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, as well as the aftershocks of the pandemic, which are still being experienced.
In this context, the social-democratic European Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, reaffirmed the Union’s support for creating prospects for a future of prosperity and stability in the Republic of Moldova.
As a member of the Committee on Budgets and shadow rapporteur for the European budget, Victor Negrescu discussed on several occasions with Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, to whom he presented concrete proposals regarding support measures for the citizens of Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the post-pandemic context and considering the war in Ukraine, making all the EU Recovery and Resilience Plans more flexible and new financing mechanisms for investments in energy and agriculture
