MEP Victor Negrescu has always actively supported Romania’s accession to Schengen, through dedicated campaigns, signed by thousands of citizens, by contacting all relevant European officials to request Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, through high-level meetings and by initiating debates in national and European institutions. MEP Victor Negrescu has constantly requested in the plenary of the European Parliament that Romania’s right be respected, and during his term as Minister for European Affairs he launched dedicated mechanisms to promote this endeavor, proposing, at the same time, that Romania use all the means it holds as Member State of the European Union, including to seek the support of European legal mechanisms.
