600 million Euros for local development, from European funds

“Starting with this financial exercise, Romania will have at least four regions of integrated territorial investments that will mobilize approximately 600 million Euro from European funds for local development in the administrative-territorial units from several areas of Romania, Țara Moţilor – Apuseni Mountains (Moții, Țara de Piatră), the Danube Delta, Jiu Valley and Țara Făgărașului.

At the same time, considerable efforts are being made to create investment areas in Botoșani, Suceava and Iași (ITI Țara de Sus), Bistrița-Năsăud and Maramureș (ITI Rodnei Mountains), and in Buzău, Prahova and Vrancea. This integrated mechanism enables a more tailored and complex answer to the issues faced by some regions that have structural development deficiencies”, specified MEP Victor Negrescu, member of the Committee on Budgets of the European Parliament.

These issues were also discussed during the event dedicated to promoting Romanian integrated territorial investments, organized by MEP Victor Negrescu at the European Parliament, attended by representatives of Romanian national and local authorities, who initiated the projects, as well as representatives of the European Commission, of the European Parliament, of the Committee of the Regions and of ITIs from other countries.

“I welcome the message from the European Commission announcing the approval, most likely during the month of July, of the Partnership Agreement by which Romania will join the 13 European states that have already started implementing the current financial programming”, declared MEP Victor Negrescu.
