Victor Negrescu persuaded his fellow MEPs to support the protection of culture and local and traditional artists using European resources: Culture is a social bond that all nations need

The series of reports in which the Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, Victor Negrescu MEP, convinced his colleagues to support, including financially, the protection of culture and local and traditional artists, was voted in the first plenary of the year.

Thus, through the amendments tabled as Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, the Social Democrat MEP called for fair remuneration for all artists, the promotion of national cultures in the European Union using European resources, as well as support for initiatives coming from rural or disadvantaged communities.

“I am absolutely convinced that today, European culture is richer also due to Romanian national culture. Culture is a social bond that all nations need. We must become capable of protecting it, developing it, and making it known”, stressed the Social-Democrat MEP.
