MEP Victor Negrescu considers that ”a left turn is needed” to ”build a Europe closer to people’s needs”

MEP Victor Negrescu considers that Europe needs “a left turn” to be “closer to the needs of the people” and “more aware that the voice of European citizens must count”.

“After decades of right-wing leadership at European level, we need a left turn to build a Europe that is closer to the needs of the people and more aware that the voice of European citizens must count”, said the MEP.

According to him, populism is not the answer either, because ”it is based on false promises seeking ways to limit our rights and freedoms”.

”A vote for extremists is a wasted vote, because, as in the past, they will do nothing but make useless noise and scandal”, Negrescu added.

The MEP discussed with Lars Klingbeil, co-leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and Member of the German Federal Parliament, Katarina Barley, Vice-President of the European Parliament about the real answers social democracy has for the future of the European Union.
