The European Parliament is updating anti-corruption mechanisms following a proposal from Victor Negrescu, the Vice-President responsible for corruption and transparency policies.
“I am pleased that today, at my proposal, the Bureau of the European Parliament decided to update its anti-corruption mechanisms. This achievement comes after, a few weeks ago, I relaunched the process of increasing the transparency of the European legislature. As Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for transparency and anti-corruption, I will continue efforts to create responsible and fair European institutions,” he stated.
Last week, the European legislature reached an agreement with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) that will facilitate the exchange of information between the two institutions and support investigations into corruption cases. Building on a similar document signed between the EPPO and the European Commission in 2021, this agreement aims to enhance anti-corruption mechanisms and provide legal certainty for EPPO investigations.
