Romania and Bulgaria have always defended ”European values and the cohesion of our Union”, highlighted Victor Negrescu in the plenary of the European Parliament, in the presence of Bulgarian Prime Minister

Romania and Bulgaria, situated in a ”region with many socio-political sensitivities”, have always defended ”European values and the cohesion of our Union”, was the message highlighted by MEP Victor Negrescu in a speech delivered during the debate in the European Parliament plenary in which Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov participated.

”We have done this during difficult times in the Western Balkans, we have helped building a secure Black Sea region while maintaining a good relationship with Turkey, Georgia and the countries in the area, and we are proving it once again today by supporting Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova”, the MEP stressed.

Romania has proved its qualities as a reliable partner in the European Union by supporting Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova once Russia started the illegal war. Whether we are talking about the multidimensional support offered to Kiev,  including the facilitation of Ukrainian grain exports, Romania has contributed substantially to the EU support provided to the Russian-invaded country, as well as to the Republic of Moldova in support of their European path.

The Romanian MEP stressed that Romania and Bulgaria are not second rank countries and reiterated, during the debate, his call for EU leaders to hold a vote for the accession of the two countries to the Schengen area, by the end of the year, to show that playing by the rules in the EU works.
